Pigs

Our pigs are raised with care and respect, enjoying the shade of our mature woodland while helping us root up invasive species and prepare for future plantings. Always visible from our front porch they receive plenty of interaction and attention. They enjoy a wholesome diet of roots, insects, grasses, vegetables from our garden, and walnuts and acorns from our trees (and whatever else they're finding down there with their super strong snouts). They have a little A-frame shelter to get out of the weather that goes with them when they are rotated to different areas of the forest. The ability to move around freely, rooting to their hearts content, and serene surroundings make for calm and confident pigs. They are supplemented with an organic feed from another farmer less than 5 miles away. No hormones are used. Antibiotics may be used in the case of a lifesaving emergency.

Chickens

We have laying hens and  more chicks have  just arrived to expand our little flock. Our current hens are a heritage breed assortment. There's a Welsummer, a partridge Cochin, a Dominique, and a  partridge Plymouth Rock to name a few. The fresh eggs are a wonderful daily treat that we can't imagine being without. They're free to roam wherever they please; a fence keeps them out of the garden. We are fascinated by them and can sometimes be found stopped in our tracks watching the yard birds to see what they're up to.

Camper the Dog

This great gal! Camper is a 1 year old Heeler mix brought home from the Humane Society  Dec. 2019.  She's a pup and still learning everything we want from her. We're harnessing her intelligence and trying to make her a good partner for us.  Working hard training her to be off leash and around chickens.
